Do You Scan Your Books?

I have small children very close in age and I am starting to use textbooks for their Arabic lessons. I have a set of books for one child and can’t decide whether to scan them (tedious) or buy extras (expensive).

I haven’t really taken the time to scan too many books but I really should. The children are so close in age that they are literally using the same books one year behind one another. I thought about telling them to mark their answers in a notebook instead of in the actual books but then we have to keep up with that too (my children are notorious for losing pencils, erasers and notebooks – but only at home, never their Islamic weekend studies materials!).

It’s really just a matter of convenience vs cost, like making your own ice cream or cloth diapering (which I used to do but I just don’t want to make the time for it anymore). I seem to have this dilemma every summer as I plan and purchase the next year’s materials; you would think that I had made up my mind by now. 🙂

What do you do?

take care, wa salaam,
